LORD, my heart is not haughty, Nor my eyes lofty. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, Nor with things too profound for me. [2] Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, Like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me. [3] O Israel, hope in the LORD From this time forth and forever. (Psalm 131:1-3 NKJV)

Reading this Psalm reminded me of when our firstborn was just an infant. He would wake up crying in the middle of the night, and I would go get him and carry him back to our bed and lay him beside my wife, who simply nursed him, and in seconds he was quiet and in time – completely satisfied

It was a beautiful sight to behold, and when I read verse two of this Psalm, this memory brings tears to my eyes – because David is saying that this sweet picture of absolute blissful peace is a picture of the deep soul satisfaction that he, and we, can find in our dependence upon the Lord. When we cry out, we can be assured that He will not only hear us, but He will tenderly hold us close and calm our worried hearts – until we, like a nursing child, find our comfort and satisfaction in Him, let go, and fall asleep in His arms without a worry in the world – because we know He’s got us – and we have Him…

Thank You Lord for Your faithfulness and love!

God Bless,

Pastor Allan
